FAQ on 200 Hour Teacher Training Program
1. What is included in my tuition?
The following is included in your tuition:
- Comprehensive Semperviva Yoga Teacher Training manual
- All required reading books
- Unlimited access to all classes at Semperviva for the duration of the program
- 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Certificate upon successful completion of the program
2. Is the Semperviva Yoga Teacher Training Program registered with Yoga Alliance?
Yes, Semperviva is registered at both the 200 hour and 500 hour level with Yoga Alliance. Yoga Alliance is an organization that was created to set standards for yoga teachers and yoga teacher trainings. More and more yoga studios are requiring their teachers to register with the Yoga Alliance. Visit the Yoga Alliance Website to learn more.
3. Is the cost of the course manual and textbooks included in the tuition fee?
Your tuition includes the cost of your Yoga Teacher Training Manual as well as three course books that are required reading. Manuals and books will be distributed on the first day of your training.
4. Am I able to take regular classes at the Studios during the course?
For the duration of your training you will have unlimited access to all classes at Semperviva Yoga, all locations, at no extra cost. If you are on Semperviva's convenient Pay-As-You-Go membership plan, contact us at info@semperviva.com to put your credit card payment on hold.
5. How do I apply?
Application forms detailing class dates, times and cost can be downloaded here. Please complete the application form and return it with your deposit to our Sun Center location at 2608 West Broadway. Applications can also be sent by mail to Semperviva, 2608 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC, V6K 2G3.
6. How many students are accepted into each program?
The number of students can vary from 12 to 35. For larger group sizes, the number of teacher training assistants is increased to facilitate more direct student to teacher contact.
7. What is the typical age of teacher training students?
Our course caters to students of all ages. It is common to have students range from 20 to almost 70 years of age.
8. What are the completion requirements?
- 100% attendance of all in-class teacher training sessions
- Successful completion of all homework assignments, quizzes, and exam
- In-class teaching practicum
a. Attendance
In order to guarantee that you have learned all materials well enough to teach safely and effectively, Yoga Alliance requires attendance at 100% of the classes.
If you miss 1-2 days: You may still complete the program with your class, provided that you schedule a private session with an Assistant Teacher Trainer during the course of the program. The cost of a private session is $100.00 per hour. Please contact us to schedule the make-up session.
If more than 2 days are missed, you will be required to make up the session in a subsequent training. The cost will be $100.00/day of each additional day required in the subsequent training.
b. Homework
Homework assignments are key to learning. You will be required to hand in 100% of all homework assignments. Homework must by typed, and can be emailed directly to us.
9. Will I be qualified to teach upon completion of the 200 Hour Teacher Training Program?
Yes, you will be qualified to teach upon successful completion of all the course requirements. We encourage teachers to start teaching right away. Graduates of our program often start by teaching private clients (friends, family and coworkers), and by teaching in gyms and small studios. Our course includes a component on "the business of yoga," so that we can prepare you for your teaching career.
